Welcome to Premier Angling's 7 - Day Bristol Avon River Diary.

The aim of this service is to assist you, the angler when conditions are changing - either for better or worse !

My temperature readings and view of conditions are taken daily from just above the town bridge in Chippenham and are also based on what I see on my daily trip to the shop as I pass and view other parts of the Avon downstream at nearby Staverton & Melksham.

REMEMBER :- my temperature reading is taken mid - river , mid flow and will be higher than that taken in the margins where there is little or no flow. Therefore more accurate as far as the temperature that the fish are encountering.

If we can save you a wasted trip by letting you know how bad it is or give you the incentive to grab your kit because it's 'spot on', then we will have achieved our objective - that is to give the angler his or her best chance of a successful trip on our local waters, the Avon.

10th MARCH MONDAY	8.5	48	10.0	Green / Grey - rain overnight has not made any difference so far !.	Normal - flow / pace - little change..	Wet & very windy.	965mb - rising - moderate to strond south westerly gale - more of the same for the next 36 hours or so !!!! what an end to the season !
9th MARCH SUNDAY	8.0	47	10.0	Green - very clear.	Normal - slowish pace / flow.	Bright and fairly mild - windy tonight.	997mb - falling to 965mb - gale force winds and wet - Monday looks awful !!!
7th MARCH FRIDAY	9.0	48	10.0	Green - margins - very clear.	Normal - slow pace / flow.	Dry & Bright - poss. rain later.	1013 mb - falling - light westerly breeze - poss. rain tomorrow and also Sunday - very windy & wet on Monday.
5th MARCH WEDNESDAY	7.5	46	9.0	Green - margins very clear.	Normal - pace / flow slowing up.	Bright & Dry - still feeling cold after early frost.	1037 mb - falling - light westerly breeze - should just avoid a frost tonight with a dry and slightly milder day tomorrow - rain for the end of the week.
3rd MARCH MONDAY	7.0	45	7.0	Green - margins clearing.	Normal - slow pace / flow.	Dry , Bright & cold wind - poss. sleet showers later.	1,014 mb - rising - light but cold westerly breeze - feeling cold again tomorrow but becoming milder again towards the end of the week.
